Step 1: Understand the Requirements

To apply and be accepted, one must have a clear understanding of the different universities and colleges and their entry requirements. Not all universities and colleges have the same rules and you must take the time to understand the entry requirements prior to applying. Students must also ensure that the university or college you are applying to are recognized.

While the academic requirements may vary all universities will require you to submit your educational transcripts, proof of English proficiency (IELTS or TOEFL) and proof that you have the finances to support yourself in the Country.

It takes time to apply, be accepted and get the student visa. Students should apply well ahead and a minimum of six months before the start to allow time for visa and travel to Canada.

Step 2: Choose your Course and Institution

Aspiring students will have to choose a specific major at a University or College. Your chosen major should align with your past educational and professional experience. That being said, you can change your major by making a strong case via your ‘letter of intent’ or ‘statement of purpose’. Every university and college application are unique and students should take the time to review the academic and language requirements and short-list the ones that suit your needs.

Step 3: Take the Language Proficiency Test

It is mandatory for every international student to prove proficiency in English. IELTS is the preferred test for proficiency in English, with some institutions also accepting TOEFL exam score. Step 4: Apply to Universities

Once you have the required IELTS score and shortlist colleges or universities you want to apply, start the process by applying online. You will be required to pay a processing fee that varies from $100-$200. At the end of the application, you will be given a list of documents you have to submit.
